I-330

I-330 is my favorite and probably most interesting character in the novel We. She manipulates like no one else in the novel besides maybe the benefactor himself. She is very remeniscent of a person from today's society, she drinks, smokes and does what she needs to to get what she wants and needs. So in a way she represents society as how it used to b. D-503 is a puppet and represents the current society where everyone is basically nothing and can be made believe in anything. She wears clothes from ancient times and uses them to seduce D-503 much like someone might do today to get what they want.

Although, I liked the character of I-330 because she is head-strong, I do not think any of the characters strike me so much to be a favorite. Like you said D-503 is just a puppet, easily swayed and manipulated (and confused out of his mind) but I-330 is sneaky and coniving so I do not necessarily respect her all of the time. Then again in a society such as this, I guess you need to be sneaky if you want to be as much as yourself as possible but she causes much of D-503's confusion, and I think she can act in more appropriate ways in order to get through to him.

On the contrary, I feel that I-330 was not that great of a character. She lived her life differently then the others which is why it seems as if she was rebelling against her society. However, she did not make any changes to better the society. And for the most part, she followed the rules just simply in a different manner then everyone else. On the surface it may appear that she is living a happy life going against society but in reality it is simply just false content.

Although I am not a fan of the book We, I agree if I had to pick my favorate character from the entire book it would be I-330. I feel that the most interesting parts of the book were the ones with her in it, and i think this is probably so because of what you said, she was the character linking the past with the presant. The way she used her body to get the attention of D-503 was priceless, it portrayed the sterotypical male instincts, which was something to get a few laughs from. The fact that she made the book more interesting said alot about their society. She may not have done anything for the society, however she made it easier to get the reader though the neverending book.
